going into the s&b tag to see people whining about how they didn’t stick exactly to the books is a trip. the entire foundational concept of the show was blending the grishaverse stories into a unique format for television. with leigh bardugo’s blessing and active participation. like i’m sorry YOU had a bad time but *i* got to watch all of my absolute favorite trainwreck murder babies get to hang out on screen together and blow shit up and make snarky comments and have mushy emotional moments with one another in a glorified big budget fanfic. had a blast, mama was fed, would do it again and absolutely will rewatch

I also think we could get another Kaz fights the Dregs scene. They could turn on him again if Jan Van Eck were to offer Per Haskell enough money. Heck Pekka could even be involved still. We all know he’s getting out of Hellgate and he’ll want revenge too. Give me the stairs fight- like real stairs not the three steps in the little bar area- I want to watch Kaz kick people down them. Give me Kaz fighting with literal nails that he swiped from an axe handle mid fight- Give me Inej barely restraining herself as she watches from the ceiling- “She’d kill them all. She’d pile the bodies to the rafters for the stadwatch to find.” Give me Kaz knowing Inej is there, making eye contact and ever so slightly shaking his head- Give me Kaz smearing blood across his face and smiling at Per Haskell- Give me something that is five times more spectacular than his little fight in season 2- Give me a SoC spin-off so I can have my Crows in all their glory—

Although I’m heartbroken sad that Kaz and Inej are separated by the end of the season, I do love this scene here with Kaz. It has me very excited for when they do reunite. Offering paid serving jobs to girls at the Menagerie shows him honoring Inej’s fight (in addition to his own morality that Inej always knew he had and that we see throughout SoC and CK, especially when it comes to the slavers). This scene is very much how I imagined Kaz post-CK, and since they did the CK Pekka-arc this season, it makes sense to show this glimpse of Kaz doing things in the barrel his own way. It has me excited for Inej’s return when she learns about what Kaz has done for those who were in similar situations to her.

Also new crow cane!!

This looks very similar to the one they used in the screen tests, and I absolutely love it. I know many felt that this better resembled the cane in Six of Crows, so I’m sure this is a way of them marking the transition to that storyline in addition to Kaz’s new status as a new head of the barrel (and now the Dregs) with Pekka in Hellgate. I also feel that it can be seen as marking Kaz’s growth, especially the growth to come as he sheds his armor. Basically he’s entering a new era and I am all for it haha.

While I was definitely surprised by the ending to season 2 for multiple characters, I do love this scene they showed for Kaz. Time to rewatch the show so it gets a season 3 because I need to see Kaz and Inej reunite right now, thank you.

And I’m going to pretend that moment between Tolya and Inej getting on the ship did not happen because what??
